Blackout!

Well the daylight was waking me too early in the morning, still saving up for the shutters and then I stumbled over some fabric in my stash that must be nearly 20 years old, it was a blind in the first ever home I owned then it was used for curtains in the 2nd house I bought! And all these years later it still looks good, recycling at it's Best!!

Gardening!

Well the garden was a blank canvas just decking paving and a small soil area for planting, we were so excited to have our own garden we started buying pots and planting them before we had even unpacked!

New Home

Well we finally moved house 3 weeks ago, no we only have a small apartment not the whole place! Well after deciding to move North London we ended up in Greenwich! But we have our own garden and the share of another 20 acres so the dog and the stray cat we adopted a few months back are very happy! When I've finished unpacking I'll post more pics!

Dreams......

Well i've had a few days at home, which I needed badly house was looking sadly neglected the cooker hood had grown a dust coat, and there were piles and piles of dried and semi dried clothes everywhere, and every spare space had been turned into a filing cabinet mainly receipts for all the equipment needed in the new shop, so I spent the day dusting filing shredding washing! And slowly it looks like a home again.

So as I was feeling homey I thought i'd read a few blogs, mainly those using the words homely or country anything with a country feel, not sure if i'm missing the country, don't feel like I am i've been in london nearly 10 months, so as it happened we visited a friend last night who also relocated from Oxfordshire like me however she lives in an old house where as we live in sn apartment, but she had gone for a fairly country look, maybe we need to buy a house!!

Tetbury Antique Shopping!

Well I checked my blog and realised I hadn't posted since January so I thought it was time forba post, had a lovely day a few weekends ago in Tetbury a pretty cotswold town, where every shop is a vintage fans dream, lots of lovely antique shops, interior shops and more, we found a 1930's fire extinguisher that had been converted into a lamp, it was offered with a beige linen shade that I didn't think was right so on the way home popped into John Lewis High Wycombe and found a perfect black shade that suited the lamp so much better, unfortunately though not for us but for the new shop, but maybe one day in the future it will find itself at home! We had lunch in a lovely pub/hotel in Tetbury food was amazing but the portions were even too big for me! Drinks were served in jam jars with handles very unusual.

Curtains!

Well I made these in record time! Can't wait to see how blackout they are in the daylight!! Will post another pic if them in daylight with the tie-backs on!

New year!

Well I have been enjoying spending time at home with Bo, finally got my headboard up! Bedroom is coming along nicely, finely found a nice blue and white striped fabric to make the curtains with, the wallpaper was such a bad choice so difficult to find things that match and the same shade of blue! So took the easy route and settled on a stripe! I will interline and use blackout lining as I want NO daylight at all! Decided to go for a traditional pelmet too, as a pole would only let light through and make the blackout pointless! Will post a pic when there done!

Nina"s Master Class

Well i'm very excited! attending Nina Campbells Interior Design Master Class tomorrow can't wait! I have loved her style and fabrics from the first time I ever saw one of her interiors featured in House & Gardens as a boy.

I have always looked forward to the release of any of her books, rushed hurriedly to buy them and then read them cover to cover over and over again! So will be really nice to finally meet her in the flesh and hopefully get some tips!

Where have you gone?

I noticed this evening whilst updating friends on my blog, how many people I have spoken to on here and who no longer post (hope it's not me!!) Is it just me that feels a bit sad when you see on your list last posted 3 years ago.......

Where do they go? are they just too busy with daily life, is blogging a chore now? Do they no longer have a PC? are they still alive?

I hope they are all OK and too busy enjoying life to blog, but I wish they would, call me nosey but having a little look into other people's lives fascinates me!

Memories....

Saw these gorgeous curtains today in Harrods in the furniture department, took me right back to being a child, I remember my Aunty having the same chocolate brown velvet curtains made, I think my Aunt's house inspired me into making curtains, she always had them hand made which was very extravagant in the 80's for an average family, I also remember seeing in her house the first austrian blind, I was amazed a bunch of cords would pull a piece of fabric into such an amazing shape! I promptly bough my first Rufflete Austrian blind Kit and made one out of an old sheet! That was when it all started.
